Time (and your body) is precious

Time is precious and the Bible says in James chapter 4 verse 14, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

So why waste this valuable time you’ve been given on things that are going to harm you, such as eating highly processed foods or drinking several cups of coffee a day, alcohol, and sugary-fizzy drinks; working all hours stuck in front of a computer screen, or any other job that takes up most of your time away from your family and friends; taking harmful drugs or smoking cigarettes; watching films that will leave you feeling gittery and disturbed all night, and whatever alse is going to make you sick and eventually cut your life short.

Come on! Wake up! If you want to live a reasonably long and pain free life, you have to be prepared to make an effort, and stop taking your body for granted. Good health is an ongoing process and you can achieve amazing results, just by making positive changes to your diet and lifestyle.

So treat your body with the respect it deserves; nourish it with real wholesome food, and it will give you all the energy you require. Keep it hydrated with clean water, every cell in your body depends on it and cannot function properly without it. Exercise, it helps maintain strong healthy bones and muscles, therefore keeping you supple. Learn to relax and take deep breaths from the gut; it’s surprising how many people have forgotten how to breathe. Watch a baby breathe and you’ll see that it’s their belly that moves, and not their chest.

Just remember that the body wants to stay in a state of wellbeing, and will do everything it can to protect itself. But if you choose to ignore the constant warning signs of tiredness, and aches and pains, it will succumb to sickness and disease. Learn to listen to your body, and you will be better able to cope with whatever life throws at you.

Another wonderful verse that comes to mind is from Genesis chapter 2 verse 7, “And the LORD GOD formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul.”

What a wonderful God we have!!
